Our Mission:
To Provide at-risk youth accessible and relevant mental health services while building community partnerships.
Our vision is to see a generation of thriving and inspired youth that do not value themselves based on their circumstances or history but on their character, hope, and self-esteem. In order to manifest change within a generation of apathetic and neglected children we have created programs that integrate animal interaction into conversation and skill building. Basically, we bring out the best in these children by providing them with new and exciting experiences that allow them to feel compassion for another living thing. Animals bring out the best in people because they have not hurt us, have not judged us, need us, and want our affection.
Our Methods:
It has been proven that being in contact with animals can lower anxiety and blood pressure. This tool is best used when talking through heightened emotional moments. The children we meet are dealing with death, gang violence, homelessness, abuse, neglect, and low self-esteem. They are looking for people who will care for them in their most broken and tragic place. People have never been able to do this, but animals have never hurt or left them. Basically kids can love and trust animals. What better way to connect with them and build a relationship? We bring animals to connect with the children in a way that builds trust and community without stress and anxiety. They learn to trust us through the interaction with the animals.
